        The number of trained professionals in computer operations is not sufficient to meet the needs of business and industry.  Projections for the future indicate that demand will continue to increase at an accelerated rate. Wages range from entry level minimum wage to $8.00+ per hour and increase with experience and proficiency.

        The Computer Applications class prepares students for entry-level employment as:
     


        Also, Microsoft Certified Application Specialist certification, which is becoming an industry standard, can be obtained after successfully completing the testing requirements.  Hopefully, employers will start using this test to either screen potential employees or for advancement purposes.  For more information on the MCAS certification, go to www.certiport.com.
     

    Course Description

        This course is designed to teach the student advanced computer skills and concepts.  Software applications focusing on word processing, spreadsheet, database, graphics, presentation software, Windows and online services will be covered.  Students will also learn how to integrate applications.  Students will complete hands-on applications.  The course is designed to be individualized so students may learn at their own pace, and is an excellent continuation of the Computer I, and II classes.  Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be prepared for entry-level positions in the workforce using the computer.  The student may also obtain articulated credit through some local colleges.
