II. OBJECTIVES :


The second year students will start this week in a self paced, independent study of operating systems used in a Windows environment. A lab for use by the second year students has been arranged for independent and team study on various chapters in the book and associated labs.

The objective of this week’s lesson is to introduce the students to the operating system versions available in a Windows environment beginning with Windows DOS.

Note all lectures presented in these lesson plans are the lectures given in the classroom to the Tech I students. There are very few lectures specifically designed for use by the Tech II students. They are included in these lesson plans for reference material only.

V. INTRODUCTION:


Safety precautions around electronic components (both for the equipment and the person) are introduced and stressed throughout the course but are highly emphasized to force the students to remember that safety is job one. The rest of the week is an introduction to the inner workings of the computer.



VI. CONTENT :


This week, we introduce the first Operating System from Windows. It is called DOS which stands for Disk Operating System.
