This course is designed for the creative computer
user. Students will utilize Microsoft PowerPoint in order to present information
in a dynamic manner. This will include using hyperlinks, graphics, sound, and
animation, as well as the scanner and digital camera to create electronic
files.
Desktop publishing software including Microsoft
Publisher, which will enable the student to design print media such as
newsletters, bulletins, brochures, etc., will also be covered. Graphics and art
will be imported into publishing projects and techniques will be discovered to
visualize the finished page. Adobe Photoshop will also be introduced.

Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification (Core and Expert Levels),
which are becoming an industry standard, can be obtained after successfully
completing the testing requirements. HCTC students showing aptitude for a MOS
exam will have their test fee waived (normally $65 per
test). |
Job Opportunities The
demand for people who can successfully design presentations, documents,
brochures, newsletters, etc. has increased. More businesses are performing
these tasks in-house instead of having another company prepare them. Changing
things is more cost-effective and easier if the documents and presentations are
produced in-house.
