HANNIBAL AEL PROGRAM

Welcome to Adult Education and Literacy Classes!
Congratulations for making the decision to continue your education. Everyone
achieves success in the AEL class unless he/she stops attending.

The following is some information that you might find helpful. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions about any of the items:

  1. CLASSES ARE FREE! However, they are for adults only....
  2. Books and materials are free and should remain in class... Please do not write in books.
  3. New students (16 and older) may enroll at any time.
  4. If you are 16 or 17 years old, an "Authorization to Enroll" form must be on file with us to enroll.
  5. Instruction is individualized to you goals, your level and your speed.
  6. Sign yourself in when you arrive and out when you leave.  You are encouraged to stay for the entire class.
  7. We understand that your responsibilities may at times require that you must miss class...
    a. If you must miss, return to class as soon as you can. You are not too far behind in your work since classes are  individualized.
    b. If you are unhappy with something about the classes, tell and and together we will work it out. If you like what we do, tell others.
  8. Classes are canceled  if the Hannibal School District is closed due to bad weather and emergencies. If Hannibal school classes are dismissed during the day , night classes are also canceled.
  9. When you have attended classes for 12 hours, you will receive a certificate of commendation.
  10. NO SMOKING policy strictly enforced on smoke-free campus
  11. When you and your intructor(s) believe you are ready to challenge the GED test, you will be given an application form to send to Jefferson City. This application must be sent in with a $20 cashier's check or money order. The GED tests are administered at Hannibal LaGrange College. Upon receipt of your approved application from Jefferson City, you must call the college to reserve a seat for testing (573)221-3675, ext. 244. If for some reason you are unable to keep that test date, call HLG to cancel. On test day, bring your approved GED application, $20 cash, and proper identification (Driver's Lincese or Identification card).
